The time of registration ends; The opposition remains out of the political competition

24:00 of yesterday night has marked the end of the period for the registration of parties as election subjects in the elections of 20 January. This hour has left out of the competition the parties of the left coalition because none of them registered in the due time, despite the invitations continuously made by the internationals. The prominent parties of the opposition PS, PSD, PDS, LSI and PAD have not shown themselves at the doors of KQZ to guarantee their participation in the elections. The socialist leader Edi Rama, in the yesterday meeting with the parliamentary group of the party he directs spoke against the participation in the elections if Sali Berisha and his supporters would not provide standards. The only party registered in the last minutes was the Environmentalist Party with leader Nasi Bozhegu and this made 40 the numbe of parties to compete in the local elections.

On the other hand the EU commissioner for broadening Oli Rehn has criticized the attitude of the oposition deeming this way as not democratic and negatively influental to the integration of the country into the international coalitions. He invited the Albanian political class to sit and discus to arrive a full consensus.
