Berisha denies that there was a requst of the internationals for the postponing of the election date
No international factor has demanded a postponing of elections in my office. This is the declaration by which the prime minister Berisha has denied the claim of his socialist rival. In a press conference Berisha said that “All those who have prented the matter in some cases have done this as a requst of PS while in other cases they have wanted information on the mentioned problem but immediately after being informed about the law for the three years mandate of the locals have said that the constitution is not given effective power afterwards. Again and again EU has supported the realization of elections within constitutional periods.”
The prime minister reminded of the declarations of the EU commissioner for broadening Olli Rehn who invited the opposition not to boycot the elections. “The government of coalition and PD are ready to guarantee all financial and material sources for KQZ and to make every effort for collaboration with PS and other political forces for the full succes of the elections,” said th prime minister, Berisha invited the socialist leader Edi Rama to put the interests of the citizens of of the country integration above the personal ones. “Edi Rama should abandon the boycot and engage with all possibilities for free and honest elections with standards. I invite PS to work together for the standards leaving their consideration to the institutions observing the elections,” he emphasised.
The chief of government also expressed his resoluteness on the change of the election date. According to him 20 January is not a date determined only by PD but it also stands on a constitutional right of the republic president.
