Bob Hand: I am scandalized by the election situation in Albania

Strong critics have been addressed towards the political class in Albania by the Counselor of the American Commission of Helsinki, Bob Hand, “I am very scandalized from the political situation created in Albania in the verge of elections,” he said in an interview for Voice of America. Hand has strongly accused the opposition and the majority for their immature actions. “It would be an unpardonable error by the opposition if they boycott the elections and it will be even worse for the majority if it shows resolution to hold the elections in such conditions when the opposition stand for boycott,” Hand said. The American commissioner emphasizes that he has observed all elections after 1991 and that there have been discernable developments in Albania after 2001. “The bridge passing in 2005 should not give a pretext to the parties to return the problems of the past,” he added.
