EU: The doors to EU are open, stronger criterions for the candidates

The chiefs of states and governments of EU have agreed for stronger acception criterion for future membership candidates. The central criterion must be, beside this, the capability of EU to accept new candidates, said the german chancellor Angela Merkel in the closure of the EU summit in Brussels. The state and government chiefs participating in the summit were of the same opinion that before new membership rounds, the reformation of EU structures is needed. Merkel was charged the duty to reopen the discussion about the EU constitution during the European Council presidency in the first half of the next year. The member countries also decided to take stronger meassures against illegal emigrants. At the same time the legal emigration will be easier.
