Rehn: The boycott is unacceptable; The parties should understand the importance of elections for the future of the country!

The commissoner for widening in EU, Olli Rehn has criticized toughly the attitude of the opposition parties to boycott the elections. In a meeting with the pime minister Berisha during the workshop of the summit of CEFTA, he said that the atitude of the opposition parties is unacceptable and absurd.

“Of course, EU will demand elections according to standards but such an error of not participating in the elections can’t be thought,” he amphasised. EU, said the commissioner Rehn, encourages participation in elections and will demand the application of standards. These elections, said the commissioner Rehn, are very important for the image of Albania.

On his part, the prime minister Berisha gave Rehn a wide view of the local elections in Albania. The prime minister ensured the european commissioner for the resoluteness of the government to fuly implant the international standards for free and honest elections. In this frame the prime minister said that the government will do everything it can to guarantee thse standards. The prime minister Berisha emphasised that the situation is such as we can face a boycott warned of since 6 months.
