Lennmarker: OSBE supports the holding of elections withitn the constitutional periods

It seems that OSBE will support the demand of the majority for elections within the constitutional periods, the date decreed by the president as January 20. The president of the parliamentary assemble of OSBE Goran Lennmarker in a meeting with the head of the parliament Jozefina Topalli said that “The constitution should be respected and OSBE is engaged to support Albania for a free and honest election rpocess.”

In the meeting Topalli guaranteed Grunet for the maximal engagement for a regular process according to the standards and for his support of free and honest elecxtions. She expressed her concern about the boycot of the opposition in the parliament where the amendments for the election code are expected to be voted according to the agreement of August 2006 between PD and PS.
Also Topalli said that the election dater has by now been decreed by the republic president who has acted on basis of the constitution.
“It can’t happen, said Topalli that this date be postponed for no one is above the constitution and the law. The boycot of the opposition harms the country and no one can take the right of Albanians to vote.”
