Letter by the minister Mustafaj to the internationals: The election date on 20 January 2007

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Albania Besnik Mustafaj ha made officially knonw the election date to the highest personalities of International Organisations and Institutions engaged with the election processes in Europe and wider. Through this letter the minister Mustafaj has made known that in basis of the Albania Constitution and with the decree of the President the elections will be held in 20 January 2007.

In his letter the minister Mustafaj confirms the negagement of the Albanian government to guarantee a free and honest election process sanctituting so the truist shown to this government on 3 July 2005. He emphasises that “the realization of an election process within the international standards is for the Albanian government more important that the election result itself.”

Pointing out the collaboration with the internationals like OSBE and ODHIR during the preparance of the local elections the minister Mustafaj has emphasised that “The Albanian authorirties expect and welcome an unlimited number of observers of these organisations and institutions to observe these elections.”
The minister Mustafaj has ensured the internationals that the delegations sent by them will beside other have his personal support to fulfill successfully their mission.
