Sokol Olldashi officially candidate for major of the Tirana Municipality
The chief council of the Democratic Party has unanimally approved the minster of Interior Sokol Olldashi as candidate for major of the Tirana Municipality. In the today meeting of the PD council the candidature of Olldashi was finally officialised. He will face the socialist leader Edi Rama who will attempt a third mandate.
Immediately after the meeting of the council of PD the prime minister Sali Berisha has made a press conference where he regarded the figure of Olldashi as politically and intellectualy completed. "With this local selection PD decides to present the citizens of Tirana one of the youngest and most successful politicans who during these years has had a successful career in politics. In the elections of 2005 Olldashi put out of politics the head of the "Zemuni clan" said the prime minister Berisha.
Berisha said that though the replacement of such a successful minister with another wil be difficult the citizens of Tirana deserve the best. "During the last 16 months as minister of Interior he leaded this ministry with courage and managed together with a qualified staff to reestablish the order and guarantee the security to Albanians," added Berisha.
The chief of the government said also that the PD council will meet every night on 21:00 to discuss about the new candidatures that will be presented.
