Gjata: KQZ is ready to fulfill its obligations in connection with the elections
The Head of KQZ Clirim Gjata declared that “The Central Commisiion of Elections posseses the full will to guarantee a free and honest election proces within the required standarts.” He emphasised that despite the political atmosphere KQZ has continued its work normally taking as reference the Constitution, the Election Code and other laws relevant to elections. Acoording to him every step for preparing a normal realization of elections has been taken and KQZ has approved about 50 acts, decisions and instructions. The head of KQZ has also thanked the international factor acting in Albania and especially the presence of OSBE in Tirana and the USAID office.
On the other hand Gjata criticized the political factor in the country for not collaborating and showing inresponsibility in fulfilling its obligations in connection with the local elections to be held in 20 January 2007. “Not everything depends on KQZ since the problems up to now should be raised since 20 of August while even today we do not have a candidate to name as a member. The registration of candidates for majors or of the multiple lists of the parties for comunal or municipal councils ends 32 days before the election day that is is 19 of December 2006. After this date the law does not permit the registration of any more candidates,” said Mr. Gjata.
